Clip Player lets you easily create playlists to watch music videos, movies and podcasts! Enjoy the clips of your playlists in sequential or shuffle mode as often as you like! Use the pinch gesture to switch to full screen! Use AirPlay to watch your playlists on the big screen with Apple TV.

This app fills a gap on the iPad: The standard "Videos" app does not support playlists and the "Music" app plays only the sound of movies or videos limited to a small section of the screen. While the lack of playlists in the "Videos" app is acceptable for watching long videos (e.g. TV shows or movies), it is inconvenient when one wants to enjoy watching short movie clips in a row such as a series of music videos, movie trailers, or short clips recorded from TV. Clip Player removes this limitation!

With Clip Player you can:
- Create playlists from a library of local files and from the local iTunes media library
- Import movie clips using the standard "file sharing" option in iTunes
- Play all available locally stored clips by tapping on the "Library" playlist
- Play all accessible clips in the iTunes media library
- Create new playlists from a subset of clips in the two libraries
- Watch movies in a selected playlist in sequential or shuffle mode
- Turn on repeat mode to watch your favorite clips again and again
- Flick through a series of timeline thumbnails shown below a running clip
- Tap a thumbnail to jump to the respective time point in the movie clip
- Use the embedded or separate slider to seek quickly through a movie
- Edit playlists by adding / removing clips
- Find clips quickly using the search bar
- Change the name of an existing playlist
- Switch to fullscreen mode by pinching outward or by tapping the fullscreen button
- Leave fullscreen by pinching inward or by tapping the standard fullscreen button
- Add movies from other apps using the "Open in..." functionality
- Watch your movie clips anytime on the road (e.g. in the train or plane)
- Watch your movie clips on the big screen using AirPlay (requires Apple TV)

NOTES

While the app is self explanatory, you may also watch 3 short introduction movies that are located in the "Library" playlist after installation; you can delete these clips when no longer needed.

Movie clips removed from a playlist (except the library playlists) are not deleted from disk. In order to permanently remove a movie clip, it must be deleted from the "Library" playlist.

Clip Player plays standard iOS movie files (.m4v, .mp4, .mov) in case that they are free of digital rights management (DRM); note that music videos downloaded from the iTunes Store are not DRM protected (this has changed in recent years) and can, thus, be used in Clip Player. Clip Player extracts the name of the artist/creator and title of a clip from embedded meta tags in case these tags are available; the app also extracts a standard artwork thumbnail if embedded in the movie file. If no thumbnail is available, Clip Player extracts and stores a movie frame when the clip is played the first time.

Clip Player 2.0 and higher plays DRM-free movies from the iTunes media library if they have been downloaded (synchronized) to the device - files that use DRM or are not downloaded from iCloud are not available in the created "iTunes Media" playlist. You can use the standard "Videos" app to download iTunes files from iCloud.

If you want to search for clips in a playlist but the search bar is not visible, simply flick downwards to access the search bar.
